Larry is a Registered Securities Principal with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA, formerly the NASD) and is a member in good standing of Practitioner Division of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Larry was 2001 President of the East Bay Chapter of the FPA and he was 2002 Chair of the FPA Northern California Regional Council of Presidents. Larry is a member of and has been on the board of the East Bay Estate Planning Council. Larry is President of Ginsburg Financial Advisors, Inc. a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Larry received his undergraduate schooling at California State University at Hayward and the University of California at Berkeley. Larry has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ licensee with the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ BOARD of Standards since 1988. Larry became licensed with the State of California Department of Insurance in 1981 and he is licensed to sell Life, Health, Disability, and Long Term Care Insurance (which combined represent less than 2% of his annual business revenue).
Larry specialized in marketing during his early career, and managed the national marketing operations for a division of CBS, Inc. Larry spent three years in the equipment leasing industry providing financing to business owners, giving him a personal understanding of the challenges and frustrations facing the business owner.
Larry has been a professional in the personal financial planning business since 1981. He started with Equitec Securities, where Larry managed and trained Equitec staff and also provided financial services to his own clients. In 1985 Larry became affiliated with Associated Financial Group as an owner of the firm and served on its board of directors for seven years. Larry and many of his colleagues joined the predecessor firm of Cetera Financial Group, now Cetera Advisor Networks (“Networks”) in 2007. Larry is a Branch Manager and Regional Director within Networks with responsibility for 20 offices in addition to his own branch office.
Larry served on the board of United Policyholders, an organization advocating for fair treatment of insurance consumers, for more than twenty years. Larry also served nine years on the board of the Alameda County Community Food Bank. In addition, Larry was on the board of directors of the Montclair Village Association.
For more than two decades, Larry has been certified as an expert witness and called upon to render a professional opinion on the standard of due care in securities litigation proceedings. The combination of Larry’s training and experience gives him the unique ability to be sensitive to clients’ concerns, worries and frustrations, and to be able to keep the “big picture” in mind when helping clients attain their financial goals. Many clients attest to Larry’s goal of being in the “anxiety reduction” business.
Larry enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons and two grandchildren and playing tournament golf.
